.A RESOLUTION OF,THE CITY COUNCIL.OF THE
CITY-OF ROSEMEAD AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURES
AND'DESCRIBING MANNER OF ALTERNATIVE PUBLIC
.NOTICES IN LAND USE;AND,GENERAL,P,LAN MATTERS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE:CITY OF ROSEMEAD.DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the'Ci,ty of Rosemead is in the--process of•reviewing
and revising the General Plan and the Land Use Element thereof for the
City, and
WHEREAS, the City Council is desirous of obtaining the great-
est possible ,input from the general public, and
WHEREAS,, the public.%notice's required by state law and 'by the
Rosemead Municipal Code have not been effective in bringing significant
.numbers of the public into the hearing process, and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Rosemead has
requested authorization to•employ methods-of notification in addition
to the methods,required by state.•law and city ordinance, and'
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission needs to have an interim
solution to the problem of providing adequate notice to the public
while the City Council' develops a long-term policy for providing
such notice,.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that,the Planning Commission
of the City of Rosemead be autho'rized.,to expend such sums'as are nec-
essary to place advertisements.in the quarterly newsletter and the
local newspapers which are distributed in Rosemead, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Planning Commission be
authorized"to expend such sums as are necessary to post notices of
public hearings on stakes, signs., or posters set 300 feet from each
other on public right=of-way or sidewalk planting areas adjacent to
the properties which will be affected.by the decision of the Planning
.Commission.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this interim policy for providing
public notice shall apply to zone changes, amendments to the Land Use
Element of the General Plan, and all other 'General Plan amendments which
directly affect the use.and enjoyment'of private property within the
City of Rosemead.
BE IT FURTHER'RESOLVED that the policy set forth in this
Resolution shall be interim in nature'and shall terminate upon for-.
mulation by the City Council of a permanent policy for providing
notice to.the public of hearings,,-proceedings, and matters affect-
ing the conduct of municipal business in the City of,Rosemead.
