A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD OPPOSING
THE GRANTING OF LIQUOR LICENSES
TO MARKETS AND GROCERY STORES
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the Council has~r,eceived statements from numerous
members of the community in Rosemead complainidg'.about the issuance
of.a liquor license to Alpha Beta,Market at 8815 Valley Boulevard,
Rosemead, California; and
WHEREAS, there are within the City of Rosemead an unnec-
essarily large number of liquor outlets at this time; and

WHEREAS; the sale of liquor is potentially subject to abuse
without proper. controls by the vendor,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council resolves and makes the
following findings:
Section 1. There are an excessive number of liquor licenses
issued an operative within the City of Rosemead at this time.
Section 2. ,Privately owned liquor stores 'selling alcoholic
beverages asas- t7ieir primary trade or business provide a more effective
control on the sale of alcoholic beverages than the controls which
are imposed by markets and grocery stores where liquor is sold as
one of many commodities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT.RESOLVED THAT:
Section 3.' The City Council of the.Ci,ty of Rosemead is
opposed to tlie.granting of liquor, licenses to markets and grocery
stores, including the Alpha Beta Market at 881S Va1ley,Boulevard,
Rosemead, California.
Section 4. The City Clerk is directed to certify to the
adoption oaTia Resolution and transmit a.copy thereof to the
Department of Alcoholic Beverage'.Control.
