CC - 1978-25 - National Public Works Week• RESOLUTION NO. 78-25 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD DECLARING MAY 21 THROUGH MAY 27, 1918 AS NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK WHEREAS, NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK will be celebrated through- out the United States and Canada during the week of May 21 through May 27, 1978; and WHEREAS, public works services and facilities are an integral part of our everyday community lives, yet are sometimes taken for granted; and WHEREAS, an increased citizens' awareness of public works is vital to the planning and construction of highways, bridges, storm drains, sewers and other public works facilities; and WHEREAS, these important governmental services are vital to the current well-being and future progress of our community, state and nation; and WHEREAS, our public works personnel played a major role in combating the dangerous conditions associated with the 1978 National Storm Disaster; and WHEREAS, talented young people should be encouraged to prepare for careers in public works and should be acquainted with the chal- lenges and opportunities in the field; and WHEREAS, excellence and dedication in public service should be inspired by recognizing outstanding public works officials such as the annual "Top Ten" awards program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the adoption of this Resolution, the Rosemead City Council hereby declares May 21 through May 27, 1978 as NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK in Rosemead.
