RESOLUTION NO.82-3
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD
URGING THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION
(LACTC) TO APPROVE AND RECOMMEND FUNDING FOR A SOUND
ATTENUATION WALL ON ROUTE 10, NORTH SIDE, FROM CHARLOTTE
STREET TO IVAR AVENUE
WHEREAS, many citizens living adjacent to grade level freeway
systems have benefited greatly from the construction of sound
attenuation walls; and
WHEREAS, our City is concerned about the health and safety
of its residents living near freeway systems; and
WHEREAS, approved plans for soundwalls within our-City
limits do not adequately protect all residential areas affected by
freeway noise pollution; and
WHEREAS, the conditions existing in the aforementioned area
are equivalent to or worse than those areas having previously
approved soundwall plans; and
WHEREAS, there are adequate surplus funds for the construction
of the aforementioned soundwall as the result of S.B. 215;
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rosemead
resolves that:
1. the LACTC recognize the importance of this project to
complete a continuous soundwall system that would fully protect
all affected residents of Rosemead.
2. The LACTC be urged to approve and fund the aforementioned
soundwall and schedule construction simultaneously with neighboring
projects within the Rosemead City limits.
3. The City Clerk is directed to forward a certified copy
of this resolution to the LACTC and its respective committees.
