RESOLUTION NO. 82-7
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD
STRONGLY SUPPORTING SENATE BILL 1291 WHICH WOULD REQUIRE
THAT A FREEWAY IN THE C-2 CLASSIFICATION UNDER THE PRIORITY
SYSTEM ESTABLISHED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION BE
PLACED IN THE C-1 CLASSIFICATION WHEN FORTY YEARS HAVE
PASSED SINCE THE DATE OF THE ADOPTION OF THE FREEWAY ROUTE
WHEREAS, many citizens living adjacent to grade level freeway systems
have benefited greatly from the construction of sound attenuation walls; and
WHEREAS, Rosemead residents living adjacent to the San Bernardino Freeway
have been long suffering from noise pollution since the construction of the
freeway in 1952; and
WHEREAS, the Rosemead residential area on the north side of the San
Bernardino Freeway from Charlotte Avenue to Ivar Avenue is currently
classified C-2, a mid priority placement for the construction of soundwalls; and
WHEREAS, SB 1291 would in effect require that the aforementioned area be
re-classified as C-1, the highest priority placement for soundwall construction; and
WHEREAS, a C-1 classification for thE: aforementioned Rosemead area would
assist in expediting the construction of a soundwall;
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rosemead resolves that:
1. Senator Montoya be advised that the Rosemead City Council is in full
support of SB 1291.
2. The City's Legislative Advocate be urged to assist Senator Montoya in
the passage of SB 1291.
3. The City Clerk be directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution
to Senator Montoya and the City's Legislative Advocate.
