RESOLUTION NO.80-20
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD ABANDONING
A PORTION OF ROSEMEAD PARK FOR THE
PURPOSE OF WIDENING ENCINITA AVENUE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD RESOLVES
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Recitals: The City Council finds,
determines and~lares as follows:
(a) That a Resolution of Intention
(Resolution No. 80-9) with reference to
the abandonment of a portion of Rosemead
Park was duly adopted on February 12,
1980; and
(b) That a public hearing was held
pursuant to notice on March 25, 1980; and
(c) That a Negative Declaration has
been prepared and filed which concludes
that the abandonment of a portion of
Rosemead Park, for the purpose of widening
and increasing safety on Encinita Avenue,
will not have a significant adverse effect
on the environment; and
(d) That the filing of the Negative
Declaration is hereby approved. with the
finding that the project will not have a
significant adverse effect on the environment;
and
(e) The Council finds as facts those
matters required by Section 38501 of the
Government Code and further specifically
finds as follows:
(1) Encinita Avenue, from
Mission Drive to Lower Azusa has
been the site of a number of
traffic accidents; and
(2) The present width of the
street does not allow for the safe
movement of traffic as well as
parking on both sides of the street;
and
(3) The City Council has reviewed
a number of proposed alternatives to
widening the street and found that
widening the street would be in the best
interests of the City of Rosemead.
SECTION 2. The City Council hereby declares
abandoned t at a-motion of Rosemead Park consisting of
approximately 8,555 square feet as shown on the diagram
attached hereto as Exhibit "A". The area will be used for
the widening of Encinita Avenue.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 22 day of April 11980.
