'I 2G-97 APRIL 19, 1994 I3Y L (9 C~v ( ~P The Regular Meeting of the Rosemead City Council was called,to order by Mayor Bruesch at 8:04 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 8838 E. Valley Boulevard, Rosemead, California. The Pledge to the Flag was led by Mayor Pro Tem Vasquez. The Invocation was delivered by Councilmember Clark. ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS: Present: Councilmembers Clark, Taylor, Mayor Pro Tem Vasquez, and Mayor Bruesch Absent: Councilmember McDonald - Excused I. GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION MATTERS A. RESOLUTION NO. 94-16 - RECITING THE FACT OF THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF APRIL 12, 1994, AND DECLARING THE RESULTS THEREOF The following resolution was presented to the Council for adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 94-16 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON APRIL 12, 1994, DECLARING THE RESULT AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW The results for the six candidates were entered into the record as follows: Richard Reynoso 320 Jay Imperial 1530 Dennis McDonald 265 Elizabeth Diaz 774 Gary Taylor 1353 Dolly Leong 608 MOTION BY COUNCILMEMBER TAYLOR, SECOND BY MAYOR PRO TEM VASQUEZ that Resolution No. 94-16 be adopted. Vote resulted: Yes: Clark, Taylor, Bruesch, Vasquez No: None Absent: McDonald Abstain: None The Mayor declared said motion duly carried and so ordered. B. ADMINISTRATION OF THE OATH OF OFFICE AND ISSUANCE OF CERTIFICATES OF ELECTION The City Clerk administered the Oath of Office to Jay Imperial and Gary Taylor and presented them with their Certificates of Election. Councilmember Imperial then took his seat on the dais and both candidates expressed their appreciation. C. CITY COUNCIL REORGANIZATION 1. SELECTION OF MAYOR Frank G. Tripepi, City Manager, opened nominations for the office of Mayor fora the City of Rosemead. , Councilmember Imperial placed the name of Robert Bruesch in nomination for Mayor. The nominations were closed and a unanimous ballot was cast for Robert Bruesch as Mayor. ADJ CC 4-19-94 Page #1 2. SELECTION OF MAYOR PRO TEM Mayor Bruesch opened nominations for Mayor Pro Tem. Councilmember Clark placed the name of Gary Taylor in nomination for Mayor Pro Tem. The nominations were closed and a unanimous ballot was cast for Gary Taylor as Mayor Pro Tem. II. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE - None III. MATTERS FROM OFFICIALS A. MAYOR PRO TEM TAYLOR 1. Asked that the request for trees to be planted at Rosemead Park be placed on the next agenda. B. MAYOR BRUESCH 1. Asked for a memo regarding the Crossing Guards, including the Traffic commission report, be given to all councilmembers. Mayor Pro Tem Taylor asked that the memo include the current Guards names, hours and locations.
