CC - 2008-05 - Supporting COG Transportation Planning Grant Application fro Rosemead Blvd• • RESOLUTION NO. 2008-05 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF ROSEMEAD, CALIFORNIA SUPPORTING COG TRANSPORTATION PLANNING GRANT APPLICATION FOR ROSEMEAD BOULEVARD WHEREAS, traffic congestion in the San Gabriel Valley continues to increase, creating more delays, longer commutes, and loss of productive time; and WHEREAS, the capacity of the freeways has not increased to meet the demand of more vehicles and more registered drivers, and, furthermore, new freeway construction is not expected to match future demand; and WHEREAS, the Cities of El Monte, Rosemead, South El Monte, Temple City, and Pasadena each contain a portion of Rosemead Blvd.; and WHEREAS, there are significant opportunities for future growth along Rosemead Blvd., including mixed use and transit-oriented development; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Rosemead declares its support of the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments' application for funding under the California Department of Transportation's Community Based Transportation Planning Grant Program.
