AND MEMBERS ROSEMEAD CITY COUNCIL FROM: JANICE WARNER, CITY CLERK DATE: SEPTEMBER 25, 1991 RE: REQUEST FROM COMMISSIONER TIRRE FOR REAPPOINTMENT TO THE TRAFFIC COMMISSION Attached is a letter from Commissioner Tirre requesting reappointment to the Traffic Commission. If granted, this appointment would expire in October, 1993. It would be appropriate to consider this request at this time. Attachment E.40.39:1 4 COUNCIL AGENDA OCT 8 1991 ITEM No. September'24, 1991 Honorable Mayor and Members Rosemead City Council • I am submitting this letter in order to request that you consider my reappointment as a member of the Rosemead Traffic Commission. My term expires in October, 1991. As you know,'I have served on the Commission for a number of years, dealing with issues relating to traffic safety. Additionally, being a resident, I am concerned with the future of Rosemead. All decisions that I make have been based upon what I feel would be best for our City. With these thoughts in mind, I respectfully request that I be reappointed a member of the Rosemead Traffic Commission. Respectfully submitted, DANIEL TIRRE A.38.39:4 Councilman McDonald suggested a six-month review process be incorporated into the permit process. Sam Chen, 401 E. Valley Boulevard, San Gabriel, representing the applicant stated that KTV is not the same as Karaoke and that the noise level should be no different that a television set. Mayor pro tem Clark was opposed because of monitoring problems and objected to the small rooms with low visibility. Mayor Imperial was opposed to the windows being blocked out and only one door for egress and ingress. Mr. Imperial stated that he couldn't vote for this type of entertainment until there was more control over noise both inside and outside the establishment. Juan Nunez, 2702 Del Mar Avenue, questioned the size of the rooms. MOTION BY COUNCILMAN TAYLOR, SECOND BY COUNCILMAN McDONALD that the Council grant an entertainment permit to Charming KTV. Vote resulted: Yes: Bruesch, Taylor, McDonald No: Imperial, Clark Absent: None Abstain: None The Mayor declared said motion duly carried and so ordered. V. MATTERS FOR DISCUSSION & ACTION A. PROPOSED SITE FOR EAST VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER There being no objection, this item was deferred to the next meeting for further information: B. VALLEY BOULEVARD PEAK PERIOD PARKING RESTRICTIONS There being no objection, this item was deferred for further information. C. COST PROPOSAL FOR BULK NAILING ADDRESS LABELS MOTION BY MAYOR PRO TEN CLARK, SECOND BY COUNCILMAN McDONALD that the Council utilize the services provided by Ferris Addressing and Mailing, Inc. and appropriate the necessary expenditures.
