CC - Item 4J - Engineering Proposal for Bicycle & Pedestrian Safety Study - Internal file 026 C TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS ROSEMEAD CITY COUNCIL FROM: FRANK TRIPEPI, CITY MANAGER DATE: DECEMBER 6, 1994 RE: ENGINEERING PROPOSAL FOR A BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN SAFETY STUDY Attached for your consideration is an engineering proposal from Willdan Associates to provide traffic engineering services for the preparation of a Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Study report. This study is funded through a grant from the State of California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). In April, 1994, staff submitted several traffic safety projects to the OTS for funding consideration as part of a competitive grant request for proposals. Fortunately, on November 1, 1994, the OTS approved a grant to the City of Rosemead in the amount of $11,613 to be utilized for the preparation of a Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Study ` report. The purpose of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Study is to determine any locations throughout the City of Rosemead that are experiencing a relatively high number of bicycle or pedestrian accidents. Those locations will then be analyzed to identify potential improvements in order to eliminate the most common causes of accidents. Identified improvements will be incorporated into subsequent projects for the City's consideration. The total proposed fixed fee for preparation of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Study report is $11,000. Staff recommends that the fund balance of $11,613 be appropriated to the Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety grant account in the adopted FY 1994-95 City budget. r OUNCIL AGENDA DEC 131994 ITEM No.1-0.
