RE: RESULTS OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY SURVEY REGARDING
COUNCIL MINUTES
At the Council meeting of October 12, 1999, staff was directed to conduct a survey of
Los Angeles County cities to determine their method of transcribing Council minutes.
The Minutes portion of the indicated survey was broken down into the following
categories: Action, Verbatim, or Other, which includes a more inclusive type of
transcription, such as our City's minutes. Cities were also asked whether their minutes
were ever subpoenaed and used as evidence in court; and, what length of time the audio
tapes are kept.
The responses from the 86 cities surveyed (see Attachment "A") are as follows:
