MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING DATE
ROSEMEAD CITY COUNCIL

The Regular Meeting of the Rosemead city council was called to
order by Mayor Bruesch at 8:03 p.m. in the council chambers of City
Hall, 8838 E. Valley Boulevard, Rosemead, California.
The Pledge to the Flag was led by Councilmember Taylor.
The Invocation was delivered by City Treasurer Foutz.
ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS:

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: JUNE 22, 1993 - REGULAR MEETING
There being no objection, approval of these Minutes was deferred
to the next regular meeting.

A. Lino Nardini, 7831 Emerson Place, thanked staff and the
Sheriff's Department for their assistance in solving a recent problem
in his neighborhood.

CC-D AUTHORIZATION TO REJECT CLAIM FILED AGAINST THE CITY BY
JOSEPH J. WANG
Mayor Bruesch asked about the ownership of the tree in question.
Michael Burbank, Director of Parks and Recreation, stated that the
tree belonged to the California Christian Home and our claims Adjuster
would be notified of that fact.
MOTION BY COUNCILMEMBER TAYLOR, SECOND BY MAYOR PRO TEM VASQUEZ
that the City Council approve rejection of the claim and authorize a
letter of rejection be sent to the claimant and carried unanimously.
CC-G ENGINEERING PROPOSAL FOR 1993-94 ASPHALT CONCRETE OVERLAY ON
VARIOUS STREETS THROUGHOUT THE CITY
Mayor Bruesch ascertained that none of this project would be paid
for with Redevelopment Agency funds.
MOTION BY COUNCILMEMBER McDONALD, SECOND BY MAYOR PRO TEM VASQUEZ
that the Council approve the engineering proposal and direct staff to
begin the preparation of the necessary plans and specifications. Vote
resulted:

CC-I SUPPORTING AB 97 (Cortese) WATER TRANSFER LEGISLATION
Councilmember Taylor stated he would abstain on this item and
requested more information on how the selling rights would be handled.
MOTION BY COUNCILMEMBER McDONALD, SECOND BY MAYOR PRO TEM VASQUEZ
that the Council support AB 97 (Cortese) and authorize the Mayor to
forward the appropriate correspondence. Vote resulted:

VI. STATUS REPORTS - None
VII. MATTERS FROM OFFICIALS
A. COUNCILMEMBER TAYLOR
1. Commended the Sheriff's deputy who arrested the suspects
who were trying to steal his daughter's car.
2. Asked for information on a report about a call to the
Sheriff's Department on Friday, July 2, 1993, regarding the pickup of
a dead animal.
B. MAYOR PRO TEN VASQUEZ
1. Stated that he had met with Representative Cortese
regarding AB 97 in Sacramento and was happy to support this piece of
legislation.
C. MAYOR BRUESCH
1. Asked for an item on the next agenda regarding legislation
to tax tickets to various sports events in order to fund local after
school sports programs.
2. Asked for cost figures on the GAP program and a packet of
information at the next Council meeting.
VIII. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE - None
There being no further action to be taken at this time, the
meeting was adjourned at 8:25 p.m. The next regular meeting is
scheduled for July 27, 1993, at 8:00
