CC - Consolidated Fire Protection Districts Request to Form a Benefit Assessment Distirct - Internal File 053COUNCIL MEMORANDUM FROM: DATE RE: CITY MANAGER JULY 28, 1987 CONSOLIDATED FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT'S REQUEST TO FORM A BENEFIT ASSESSMENT DISTRICT Originally, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors scheduled July 23, 1987 as the date for a public hearing regarding the CFPD's request to form a Benefit Assessment District. However, no action was taken on that date, and the hearing was continued until October 22, 1987. In addition to continuing the hearing, two other recommendations were made by the Board. First, the County Chief Administrative Officer and the Fire Chief were instructed to report on a specific plan within 90 days to finance the CFPD's curtailments of service for the remainder of the year. That item was scheduled to be heard by Board of Supervisors today. Secondly, it was recommended that the CAO not propose a Benefit Assessment District without a vote of the people. That item has not yet been placed on the agenda. I will keep the Council abreast of further developments. FGT:jw
