FOR SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL GRANT PROGRAM 4. OLD BUSINESS A. NEIGHBORHOOD TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT PROGRAM – TOOLBOX AND CRITERIA OF TRAFFIC CALMING MEASURES: DRAFT -2 SUMMARY The Traffic Commission
and staff continue to develop the Neighborhood Traffic Management Program. This month a Draft-2 is being presented. This Draft incorporates the Traffic Commission’s comments from our
last meeting. In addition, a criteria table has been developed to determine when toolbox measures should be used. Staff Recommendation It is staff’s recommendation that the Traffic Commission
review and discuss Draft-2 of the Neighborhood Traffic Management Program. B. STREET NAME SIGN DESIGN AND REPLACEMENT PROGRAM SUMMARY In accordance with Federal Highway Administration
(FHWA) requirements, the City is required to develop a replacement program for existing street name and regulatory signs. The sign replacement program is aimed at meeting minimum reflectivity
and lettering standards for all City-owned signs as required by the FHWA and the State of California’s Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). The existing street name sign
background color of yellow is not compliant with the State MUTCD regulations. The replacement program includes developing an inventory of existing
ROSEMEAD TRAFFIC COMMISSION February 4, 2010 signs, determining costs to replace these signs, and a creating a replacement plan and schedule for installing new signs. Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends that the Traffic Commission: 1. Review the street name sign options; and 2. Recommend to the City Council that new street name signs be replaced with white background
and maroon lettering as funding allows and in conjunction with City public works projects. 5. STAFF REPORTS 6. COMMISSIONER REPORTS 7. ADJOURNMENT The next regular meeting is scheduled
