Staff is recommending that the City Council take no action on this Agenda item. We will
enforce the existing sections of the Municipal code prohibiting outside sales and vendors.

ORDINANCE NO. 820
AN URGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD AMENDING THE ROSEMEAD
MUNICIPAL CODE BY PROHIBITING THE USE, POSSESSION OR
SALE OF PROPANE GAS IN CITY PARKS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. A new Section 12.04.050 is hereby added to the Rosemead Municipal Code as
follows:
12.04.050 Use, Possession or Sale of Propane Gas Prohibited in City Parks
No person shall use, possess or sell propane gas in any public park or
recreation area within the City of Rosemead at any time. Violation of this
section is declared to be an infraction punishable by a fine not exceeding $100
for a first conviction, a fine not exceeding $200 for a second conviction of the
same section.within two years of the first conviction and a fine not exceeding
$500 for a third conviction of the same section within two years of the fast
conviction. A fourth conviction within two years of the first conviction shall
constitute a misdemeanor
Section 2. The Director of Parks and Recreation shall post signs giving notice of this
prohibition on the use, possession or sale of propane gas in City Parks.
Section . The City Council has received complaints regarding the unsafe use of propane gas
by vendors and park patrons cooking food, often apparently for sale. In order to protect the health,
peace, and safety of the general public and that of the neighbors surrounding City Parks, this
Ordinance is declared to be an urgency ordinance, which shall take effect immediately upon its
adoption and the posting of notice.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance.
