CC - Introduce Ordinance 768 - Box 065r- TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF ROSEMEAD CITY COUNCIL FROM: FRANK G. TRIPEPI, CITY MAN DATE: AUGUST 27, 1996 SUBJECT: ORDINANCE NO. 768/MUNICIPAL CODE AMENDMENT 96-01 This item was continued from the City Council meeting of July 23, 1996. It was continued in order to allow staff time to incorporate some additional comments. These amendments have been incorporated into our existing code format. The entire text has been typed so it is easy to follow all of the proposed changes. The new text to be added is in italics and text to be deleted uses the strikeout font. In addition to adding massage and tattoo uses, staff made a few minor amendments in the current code as follows: 1 The term City Manager or his designee has been changed to License Clerk. This was done to simplify that a business license will be issued by a License Clerk. However, the definitions state that the License Clerk is the City Manager or his designee, so there is no substantial change. 2 The current code uses a long phrase listing all of the pertinent this section. This has been condensed into to a single phrase of "Body Treatment Related Uses". This was done to reduce the text some, but more importantly to make it easier to amend this section to add uses in the future (if needed). The definition section clarifies what uses constitute body treatment related uses. 3 The definitions are not numbered, but are in alphabetical order. This will make it easier to insert future definitions rather than having to renumber everything. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that the City Council introduce and place Ordinance No. 768 on first reading, and schedule the item for a second reading at the meeting of September 10, 1996.
