VALLEY BOULEVARD • P.O. BOX 399 ROSEMEAD, CALIFORNIA 91770 TELEPHONE (626) 569-2100 FAX (626) 307-9218 The Honorable City of Rosemead City Council Members 8838 E. Valley Boulevard Rosemead, CA 91770 Re: SCAG District Representative Elections - District 32 Dear Council Members: I currently represent our cities (El Monte, Rosemead, and South El Monte) on the SCAG Regional Council and am seeking your support for re-election. I have enjoyed serving you and want to let you know that I will keep looking out for fair solutions on the Regional Housing Needs Assessment process. Our three cities should not bear an unfair share of the burden. In addition, SB 375, a new mandate on climate change relating to city planning is coming down from the state. As you know this could have dire consequences on our area. I can assure you I will be watching this very carefully. Since I serve on SCAG's Energy and Environment Committee, I am involved in many of the environmental issues such as water, solid waste and energy policy. As you know, 1 strongly advocate for common sense approaches to the environmental challenges we face, being ever watchful to prevent adverse unintended consequences. I hope I can have your support to continue serving you. As is stated in the letter from COG, if no one else applies, I will automatically be re-elected and there will be no need for us to come to the election on March 18, 2010. As of today, no one else has applied. If you have any questions, please call me at (626) 833-6673.
