RE: STATUS OF PROPOSED LOS ANGELES COUNTY LIBRARY COMMUNITY

This item has been placed on the agenda at the request of Councilman Taylor. Attached is the
information received to date from the Los Angeles County Library District regarding the proposed
library benefit assessment. The Board of Supervisors has set September 14, 1995 as the date of the
public hearing when this item will be considered formally. County staff is recommending that the
Board establish an annual assessment of $22.00 per single-family residence. Should the Council
decide to become a part of the proposed district, it will be necessary to.adopt the draft resolution
attached. Assuming, however, that,the Council has not changed its opinion in this matter over the
past year, staff recommends no action at this time.
