Re: Parking Concerns (3365 Walnut Grove Avenue)
VVq
As you know, at the January 19th Planning Commission meeting, Commissioner Nancy Eng
reported that she received a complaint from a business owner located within the commercial
shopping center at 3365 Walnut Grove Avenue. According to Commissioner Eng, the subject
business owner reported that cars are parked in the lot all day, which is not leaving parking
available for the other tenants in the center. During the Planning Commission meeting,
Commissioner Eng suggested having Code Enforcement work with the property owner to enforce
parking restrictions in the center.
Lt. Tim Murakami, Code Enforcement Supervisor Ray Rodriquez, and their staff have completed
several inspections of the site.
In checking the parking lot, Code Enforcement noted that there is a lot of traffic coming in and out
of the center. There were no parking violations noted. The handicapped spaces were filled with
vehicles displaying the valid placards. Code Enforcement noted that the "Laundry Only" spaces
are marked and the cars in those stalls were using the Laundromat. During one inspection,
patrons within the center told Code Enforcement that some employees of the businesses park in
the stalls close to their front doors, and in essence, they take up stalls that would be used by the
customers.
Code Enforcement continues to monitor this site and they are in the process of working on a
meeting between the property owner, the current tenants and/or business owners to discuss
improving the parking situation.
