CC - Item 10B - Preliminary Parks, Recreation, and General Facilities Master Plan Capital Improvement Project ListROSEMEAD CITY COUNCIL
STAFF REPORT
TO: THE HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
FROM: JEFFRY ALLRED, CITY MANAGE'
DATE: MARCH 9, 2010
SUBJECT: PRELIMINARY PARKS, RECREATION, AND GENERAL FACILITIES MASTER
PLAN CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS LIST
SUMMARY
The purpose of the Parks, Recreation, and General Facilities Master Plan is to evaluate
programs and facilities and, with community input, to devise a 15-year strategy for meeting
residents' ongoing recreational needs. One important element of the Master Plan is a long-
range Capital Improvement Projects plan.
At its February 23, 2010 meeting, City Council reviewed a proposed Capital Improvements
Projects (CIP) list for the Master Plan. City Council recommended that priority be given to
those projects deemed of concern to patron safety-particularly, playgrounds. A preliminary
list of proposed projects, reflecting those recommendations, is respectfully submitted for
City Council review and prioritization. Council's approval of the CIP list will facilitate
completion of the Master Plan as only chapters on capital projects and funding
considerations remain unfinished. Completion of the Parks, Recreation, and General
Facilities Master Plan is consistent with Rosemead's Strategic Plan.
Staff Recommendation
Staff is seeking City Council approval of a prioritized list of capital projects for inclusion in
the Parks, Recreation, and General Facilities Master Plan.
PUBLIC NOTICE PROCESS
This item has been noticed through the regular agenda notification process.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds for the Master Plan are included in the current Capital Improvement Budget.
