ROSEMEAD
PARKS COMMISSION
MEMORANDUM
TO: THE HONORABLE CHAIR AND PARKS COMMISSION
FROM: TOM BOECKING, DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION
DATE: AUGUST 4, 2026
SUBJECT: DISCUSSION ON ROSEMEAD PARK UPGRADES
SUMMARY
Rosemead Park serves as the one of the City's premier community park and hosts a wide variety
of recreational programs, special events, athletic activities, and community gatherings
throughout the year. As part of the City's ongoing commitment to maintaining high-quality
recreational facilities, the Parks and Recreation Department conducted community outreach to
gather input regarding potential improvements and future amenities for Rosemead Park.
Community engagement occurred during outreach events held at Rosemead Park throughout
April, May, and July 2026, allowing residents to provide feedback on playground concepts, park
amenities, and overall improvement priorities. The outreach was designed to better understand
the recreational needs and preferences of residents while helping guide future capital
improvement planning. Survey outreach was conducted during three community events and
reached approximately 200 participants.
DISCUSSION
On June 2, 2026, the Parks Commission received a presentation from staff regarding the results
of the community survey for the potential Rosemead Park Upgrades project. Staff is now
requesting that the Parks Commission discuss the potential park, recreational, environmental, and
educational amenities that could be incorporated into the future Rosemead Park Upgrades
development and further refine its recommendations by identifying and prioritizing the amenities
it believes are most important for inclusion in the project.
Following the Commission's discussion, staff will prepare a summary of the Commission's
recommendations and present them to the City Council for consideration at a meeting in
September 2026.
The survey identified several recurring themes regarding improvements residents would like to
see throughout Rosemead Park.
