Support for federal funding for the Eastside Transit Corridor Phase 2 is critical to ensure this project takes place. • Also to help alleviate traffic on the city streets of the San Gabriel Valley, we hope you will continue to show your support for the extension of the 710 freeway. CrimelCOPS Funding • We are very pleased that you have signed a letter supporting the need for COPS funding. The funding has provided the Sheriffs Department with resources to help reduce crime in our City. Education • Many of our constituents have expressed concerns to Council Members about the loss of educational programs for their children. We hope you will continue to help us find ways to provide our youth with quality education. Capital Improvement Programs • Rosemead has a long list of Capital Improvement Programs that address aged infrastructure, building code, safety, accessibility, and energy efficiency issues. • Playground equipment needs to be replaced in order to resolve significant safety issues. • Rosemead and Garvey Pools are a valuable asset to our community and provide fitness and recreational opportunities for our residents. Community Emergency Response TraininglEmergency Preparedness • While government is charged with emergency response, during a disaster, the number and scope of incidents can overwhelm emergency services. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program is an all-risk, all-hazard training. This valuable course is designed to help residents protect themselves, their families, neighbors, and the City during emergencies. Funding for this program is being threatened and we ask that you show your support and communicate the importance of providing local jurisdictions with funding to provide residents with CERT training. Phone-In Town Hall Meeting • Constituents have expressed concern that the issues discussed are not the issues that affect the 32nd District. Some stated they hung up.during the meeting.
