RE: ROSEMEAD YOUTH ASSOCIATION AND THEIR TREE PLANTING PROJECT
AT ENCINITA SCHOOL
At the Rosemead Youth Associations (RYA) Opening Day activity, their
Vice President, Mr. Jerry Faustinos, indicated they were looking into
applying for a competitive grant, so they could acquire and plant six
(6) trees at the three (3) baseball fields at Encinita School. We
discussed the City's involvement in this matter which could possibly
expedite their project.
Subsequently, at a City Council Meeting, the matter came up and the
City Treasurer, Mr. Foutz, indicated he had access to some trees
which he could get for the R.Y.A. The following day I contacted Ron
Gay, President of the R.Y.A., and advised him of Mr. Foutz's offer
and gave him Mr. Foutz's phone number.
I talked with Mr. Foutz on Wednesday, April 20, 1994, and he
indicated that he preferred that Mr. Gay contact Mr. Mejia directly
since he was the gentlemen that was going to donate the trees.
Later Wednesday evening I talked with Ron at Rosemead Park and he
said their organization had been very busy with various projects and
that their Vice President, Mr. Faustinos, was handling the tree
planting at Encinita School and he would be the individual to make
the contact with Mr. Mejia.
I talked with Mr. Faustinos on Thursday and gave him Mr. Mejia's
phone number so they could work out the details together. I
requested that Mr. Faustinos contact me if he ran into any problems.
