CALL TO ORDER- The regular meeting of the Planning Commission was called to order by Chairman Lowrey at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers of the Rosemead City Hall, 8838 Valley Boulevard, Rosemead, California. Pledge of Allegiance was led by Commissioner Ritchie Invocation was delivered by Commissioner DeTora 2 3. ROLL CALL- Commissioners Handy, Ritchie, Lowrey, Cleveland, DeTora Ex officio: Dickey; Dilkes,,Sull.ivan, Burns APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Regular Meeting May 15, 1978 It was moved by Commission DeTora, second by Com- missioner Ritchie to approve the Minutes of May 15, 1978, as printed. CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT 78-125- A request by Pastora Johnston an Yolanda McBra y to operate and establish a community facility center for Developmentally Dis- abled Persons at 8846-54 Mission Drive. There was a Public Hearing held on the above matter on May 1, 1978. At that time, it was decided by the Planning Commission to hold a second Public Hearing on June 5, 1978. Chairman Lowrey opened the Public Hearing at 7:40 p.m. The Oath was administered accordingly. PROPONENTS Mr. Frank Johnston 118 N. Almansor Street Alhambra, California Mr. Johnston spoke at-length regarding the fact that Rosemead was in.need of:this:project to train these developmentally disabled persons basic skills so that they may be somewhat independent and go on to work shop schools and learn skills and be paid for their services. The applicant shall comply with all conditions as set forth by the City Engineer, with the exception of Conditions #2 and #3, under "Mapping", the alley adjacent to Lot #2 shall remain its present width. 2. The applicant shall comply with the requirements of the County of Los Angeles Fire Department, "Fire Flows. (copies attached to Staff Report). 3. The applicant to construct a 6 ft. chain link fence along the north side of Lot #2, with no gate. ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES: Commissioners Handy, Ritchie, Lowrey, Cleveland, DeTora 8. WAIVER OF SECTION 8110 OF THE ROSEMEAD MUNICIPAL CODE- Request by Luis Cruiz, 3625 Brookline Street. Mr. Sullivan presented the memorandum regarding street improvements and building costs. Discussion by the Commission It was moved by Commissioner Cleveland, second by Commissioner Ritchie to grant the modification for the installation of the sidewalk only. The applicant to install curb, gutter and driveway approach and dedicate land for right-of-way for future sidewalk. ROLL CALL VOTE: ..AYES: Commissioners Handy, Lowrey, Ritchie, Cleveland, DeTora. 9. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE - On any matter- one. 10. MATTERS FROM CITY OFFICIALS AND STAFF a) The Commission was polled for attendance at a dinner meeting to be held on June 8, 1978 by the Southern California Planning Congress. b) The Commission discussed the following: 1. Meeting with the City Council and Planning Commission regarding Section 8110 of the Rosemead Municipal Code. 2.. Discussed continuation.of "Storage in Yards Ordinance'.'. 11. ADJOURNMENT - There being no further business to come before the Commission, Chairman Lowrey adjourned the meeting at 11:10 p.m.
