MINUTES
K
1. CALL TO ORDER - The Study Session of the Planning
Commission was called to order at 7:30 p.m. in the
Conference Room of the Rosemead City Hall.
2. ROLL CALL - Present: Commissioners: Lowrey, DeTora, Handy,
Ritchie, Cleveland.
Absent: None
ExOfficio: Sullivan, Christianson
3. MATTERS DISCUSSED: The study session commenced with
discussion on rear yard setback and included discourse on
garages in the rear yards; guest parking; lot area; and
trash.
Commissioner DeTora, with the concensus of the Commission
felt that they should consider the needs of Rosemead when
drafting this condominium ordinance and not necessarily
parallel out ordinance with those of neighboring communities.
The Commission agreed minimum lot area should be set at
20,000 square feet to accommodate a condominium project
of good quality and attractiveness.
The Commission had commented on several condominiums
they viewed in other cities and discussed off-street
parking problems.
There was input from several developers that were present
at the study session. They discussed the present trend in
condominium sales and expressed their feelings toward guest
parking requirements. Because of the high development and
land costs the requirement for guest parking increases the
sale price. . . and could make a project economically un-
feasible.
The Commission tentatively agreed on the requirements for
off-street parking, lot size, open space and directed staff
to make the appropriate changes in a second draft and
adjourned the study session to November 6, 1978 for continuation
of the study session, immediately followin the Planning
Commission meeting.
