PC - 1982-05 - General Plan To Low-Density Residential At Steele StPC RESOLUTION 82-5
FOLLOWS:
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD, RECOMMENDING
TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD, A GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT FROM
COMMUNITY COMMERCIAL TO LOW-DENSITY RESIDENTIAL, FOR PROPERTY LOCATED ON
STEELE STREET, GENERALLY EAST OF GERNERT AVENUE AND WEST OF MUSCATEL AVENUE,
ROSEMEAD, CALIFORNIA.
THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS
Section 1. The Planning Commission of the City of Rosemead does hereby
find and determine that a city-initiated application was duly filed, requesting an
amendment to the General Plan for the City of Rosemead, from Community Commercial to
Low Density Residential, for property located on Steele Street, generally east of
Gernert Avenue and west of Muscatel Avenue; or more specifically identified on
Exhibit "A", (attached); and that a public hearing was duly scheduled for February 1,
1982, at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers of Rosemead City Hall, 8838 Valley
Boulevard, Rosemead, California; and that notice of the time, date, place and purpose
of the aforesaid hearing was duly given according to law; and that a public hearing
was duly conducted at the aforementioned time and place.
Section 2. The Planning Commission further finds that the General Plan
calls for this area to be community commercial; however, the developmentof community
commercial is unfeasible due to the strong single-family residential character of
the subject area, the good condition of the existing housing, and the eventual com-
mercial rezoning of the area is highly unlikely. Therefore, it appears reasonable
to recommend that the Land Use Element of the General Plan be amended to Low-Density
Residential.
Section 3. The Planning Commission hereby finds that amending the Land
Use Element of the General Plan from community commercial to low-density residential
as outlined above, will not have a significant adverse effect on the environment.
Section 4. The Planning Commission further finds that a Negative Declaration
was prepared in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the
Guidelines for the implementation of CEQA, and Rosemead Resolution 75-28.
Section 5. NOW,.THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Planning Commission of
the City of Rosemead recommends that the City Council of the City of Rosemead amend
the Land Use Element of the General Plan for that area described in Section 1, here-
inabove.
Section 6. This Resolution is the result of an action taken by the Planning
Commission at their regular meeting, February 1, 1982, by the following vote:

NOES: Schymos
