MEMORANDUM
TO: BILL CROWE, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
FROM: MICHAEL D. BURBANK, DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION
DATE: MAY 6, 2004
RE: BID RESULTS - RE-TILING OF THE MEN'S & WOMEN'S SHOWERS
AT GARVEY POOL
As part of this year's budget, thirty-three thousand dollars 33,000.00), was allocated
to re-tile the Men's and Women's Showers at Garvey Pool.
On Wednesday, May 5, 2004, bids were received and opened with the following result:
JJJ Floor Covering, Inc.
$ 26,990.00
During the course of the bidding process, we had four sets of plans taken out, but only
one bid returned.
Over a year ago (April, 2003), we obtained a quote of $ 27,000.00, from Pacific .
Southwest Flooring, for this project and we used it to establish this year's budget of $
33,000.00.
I would prefer to have more than one quote on a project, but considering that we
obtained a quote over a year ago for almost the same amount of money, I am inclined to
proceed with the project.
The alternative would be to reject the bid, carry the funds over to next fiscal year and
re-bid the project.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Agency accept the bid of JJJ Floor Covering, Inc. and
authorize the Chairman to execute the Agreement.
