MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING 0
ROSEMEAD CITY COUNCIL
MARCH 13, 1984 AT 8:00 P.M.
The Regular Meeting of the Rosemead City Council was called
to order by Mayor Cleveland at 8:05 p. m., in the Council Chambers
of City Hall, 8838 E. Valley Blvd., Rosemead, California.
The Pledge to the Flag was led by Councilman Cichy.
The Invocation was delivered by Reverend Tom Phillips.
ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS:
Present: Councilmen Cichy, Imperial, Taylor, Tury and
Mayor Cleveland
Absent: None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: February 28, 1984 - Regular Meeting
Councilman Taylor requested a clarification added to page #6
regarding Item VI-B, first paragraph, which ends the with word
"street". The words "within the City of Rosemead" be added.
MOTION BY COUNCILMAN IMPERIAL, SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN TURY
that the Minutes of February 28, 1984 as amended be approved.
Vote resulted:
UPON ROLL CALL ALL COUNCILMEMBERS PRESENT VOTED AYE.
The Mayor declared said motion duly carried and so ordered.
Mayor Cleveland introduced the winners of the Essay Contest
to the audience, and pictures were taken with the Mayor.
Mayor Cleveland presented Helen Hasabales, owner and operator
of the T and J Restaurant, with a Resolution of Commendation for
38 years of consistent dedication to this community by developing
T and J Restaurant into one of the finest restaurants in Southern
California, and many other accomplishments within this area.
I. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
Hugh Foutz, City Treasurer, invited everyone to the Dinsmoor
Heritage House on April 2nd,9:00 am.to purchase the Rosemead Roses
which are on sale at $7 for:'each bush.

MOTION BY COUNCILMAN CICHY, SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN TURY that
Resolution No. 84-16 be adopted. Vote resulted:

The Mayor declared said motion duly carried and so ordered.
Councilman Taylor questioned two of the warrants,#8749 for
final map review and #8785 for Touche Ross, and asked for copies
of the invoices.
Frank G. Tripepi, City Manager, stated that he would be
happy to make copies available for all the Councilmembers.

CC-E AUTHORIZATION REQUESTED TO USE ROSEMEAD PARK BY
. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE/BIG T CARNIVAL, JUNE 30-JULY 4TH.
Councilman Taylor inquired what the Chambers principle acti-
vities would be for the Big T Carnival for the five days.
Bonnie Culbertson, Chamber Manager, stated that the.carnival
will provide between 20 to 25 rides, and games will be available
for clubs and organizations to rent and staff. She stated that
there would be an arts and crafts show, food booths, and activities
that are coordinated with the parks and recreation department and
will be set up in the large ball diamond area.
Councilman Taylor inquired about the participation of community
groups, such as the PTA's and the youth groups.
Michael Burbank, Parks & Recreation Director, stated that they
would be community groups and youth groups using the booths.
Bonnie Culbertson stated that they had put aside four booths
for businesses for display.of items, and inquired if that would be
alright.
Councilman Taylor stated that would be fine, and that his con-
cern was that the youth groups not be squeezed out by business groups.

that the request for use of Rosemead Park by the Chamber of
Commerce be approved. Vote resulted:

VI. MATTERS FROM OFFICIALS
A. Councilman Tury requested information on the vacation
of the alley south of Valley east of Rio Hondo.so that can be
achieved.
B. Councilman Taylor requested a.copy of the final bid
document for the street sweeping proposal as it had been corrected
at the last Council Meeting.
There being no further business to handle, the Council Meeting
was adjourned to March 27, 1984 at 8:00 p. m.
