MIDTERM REVIEW - 1999/00 TO 2003/04 IMPLEMENTATION
PLAN FOR REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT ARE NO. I
State law requires that all redevelopment agencies prepare and adopt an
implementation plan every five years. The Rosemead Community
Development Commission adopted a Plan for Project Area No. I in
December 1994, and subsequently in December 1999. The law also
requires that redevelopment agencies hold a public hearing every third
year of the five-year plan for the purpose of reviewing and evaluating the
progress. The Plan outlines the progress on Capital Improvement Projects,
Garvey Senior Housing, Angelus Senior Housing, Commercial
Rehabilitation Projects, Economic Development Activities, and Housing
Projects and Programs.
Recommendation: Receive testimony on progress of Redevelopment
Project Area No. 1 in compliance with Section 33490(c) of the California
Health and Safety Code.
~C/ 3. GARVEY AVENUE SENIOR HOUSING AND COMMUNITY
CENTER - SECURITY AND FENCING IMPROVEMENTS
Subcontractors were invited to provide quotes for an additional
camera based exterior security system. Additionally, the Sheriff's
Department has requested that a digital entry pad for the Community
Center entry gates be installed. This would eliminate the need for keys
distributed to deputies that may be patrolling the property or responding to
emergencies.
Recommendation: Approve a change order with the Sheridan Group to
install the camera based security system and digital keypad.
