CC - Item IV. B - Ground Lease For Walmart SignW X
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR
AND MEMBERS
ROSEMEAD CITY COUNCIL
FROM: FRANK G. TRIPEPJ = g
CITY MANAGER
DATE: NOVEMBER 21, 2001
RE: GROUND LEASE FOR WALMART SIGN
As the City Council knows, we have been working for sometime
with the Edison Company and Walmart to secure a store on the
22+ acres on the southwest corner of Rush and Walnut Grove. To
'+ date, the negotiations have gone pretty well. Walmart's Western
S Regional Director has approved the site and we are just waiting for
the Executive Committee from the East Coast to visit the site. A
trip has been planned for the past 2 months and has now been
rescheduled for December 11 `".
So far, the only requirement made by Walmart that requires the
City's assistance is the construction and placement of a sign on the
60 Freeway corridor. We have been able to secure a location on
the Charley Brown's site. Mr. Bernard Perlin, the landlord of the
A property is willing to lease a spot to the City for two thousand two
hundred dollars ($2200) per month.
COUNCIL AGENDA
NOV 2 7 2001
IT EM, NO. L'_C -g
RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council authorize the City
Attorney and City Manager to negotiate a lease with Charley
Brown's "not to exceed $2200 per month" and authorize the City
Manager to execute said lease on behalf of the City of Rosemead.
Needless to say, the lease will be written in such a manner that
should Walmart decide to not build in Rosemead, the lease is null
and void.
