Rehab Appeals Board - Item 2A - 8940 Cortada St. HearingTO: HONORABLE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS
BUILDING REHABILITATION APPEALS BOARD
FROM: FRANK G. TRIPEPI, CITY MANAGED
DATE: JUNE 11. 2001
SUBJECT: 8940 CORTADA STREET - HEARING
The subject property consists of an owner occupied single family dwelling with an un-permitted
second dwelling. The property is zoned R-1. This property was previously before the Board on May
22, 2001. At the time of the hearing the Board ordered the case to be continued to June 26, 2001 to
allow the property owner and his attorney additional time to finalize, document and schedule the
corrective work to be performed.
On May 07, 2001 staff received a letter from the property owner indicating he has retained the
services of a contractor to schedule and correct the code deficiencies. On June 07, 2001 the
Building Official had a telephone conversation with the property owner. The property owner, Mr.
Stanley indicated he was having some difficulty with obtaining the final estimates from the
contractor based on the contractor's busy schedule.
Staff is continuing to work with the property owner to reach an agreeable timeline in which the
corrective work needs to be completed.
CITY BUILDING OFFICIAL'S RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board order this item to be continued to July 24, 2001. This additional
time will allow the property owner to obtain final estimates; work with staff to reach an agreeable
timeline.

Dear Steve Bailey,
My attorney and I met with you and your staff on April 10, 2001 to address the previously noted
building code violations pertaining to the aforementioned house. Based upon the issues
discussed, please note the following:
A. I have retained the services of a building contractor to help me with this house.
B. I am working on a time line with the contractor in order to facilitate the completion of this
work.
C. I phoned the Gas Company, and they inspected the gas line to the back house. They found
no safety problems with the service to the back house (see attached inspection tag dated
4/26/01).
Respectfully,
Timothy L. Stanley
