AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD
AMENDING THE CITY'S ON-PREMISE
SIGN REGULATIONS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Rosemead hereby finds, determines
and declares:
(a) The public health, safety and welfare require that all businesses in
the City be easily identifiable to public safety personnel as to both street address
and the activity undertaken therein.
Section 2. New section 9906A is hereby added to Rosemead Municipal Code to
read as follows:
"9906A. ENGLISH LANGUAGE USE ON
ON-PREMISE SIGNS.
The following regulations shall apply to on-premise signs in
is the City of Rosemead.
1. All commercial, industrial and professional office
on-premise signs shall identify the type of business (e.g.
"restaurant", "market") in the English language.
2. All businesses shall have required street number
identification in arabic numerals.
3. At least fifty percent (50%) of all on-premise signs
shall be in the English language. The English language
portion of each sign shall utilize letters of corresponding size
to non-English letters or characters appearing on the sign."
Section 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and shall
cause the same to be processed according to st e 1 w.
