Dear Mayor Lee:
With this letter I wish to ask the City Council for re- appointment to the San Gabriel
Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District Board. As you are aware, Vector Control is
a public health agency seeking to eliminate vector borne diseases throughout the San
Gabriel Valley. We provide Rosemead, an original member of the board, with services
that include spraying for mosquitoes, trapping of rats and testing dead birds for avian flu.
I was a member of the committee that established the District in 1989 when our county
no longer provided the service. Noting that Rosemead is located next to the Whittier
Narrows Natural Area, the city is more susceptible to vector carried diseases. I have
served the City well over the past two decades and am currently involved in establishing
an exploration center for schools at our District headquarters and in the selection of our
new District Manager. I would appreciate the opportunity to continue these activities for
another four years.
