MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE ROSEMEAD CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 27, 1978 AT 4:30 P. M.
The special meeting of the Rosemead City Council was called
to order by Mayor Cichy in the Council Chambers of City Hall,
8838 E. Valley Boulevard, Rosemead, California at 4:30 p. m..
ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS:
Present: Councilmembers Hunter, Trujillo and Mayor Cichy
Absent: Councilman Imperial and Taylor
Councilman-Hunter requested'thatthe meeting be recessed.
The Meeting was recessed at 4:32 p. m.
The Meeting was reconvened at 5:00 p. m.
1. Consideration of the Hearing Officers report on the Brewery,
9108 Garvey Avenue, Rosemead, California.
Frank G. Tripepi, City Manager, stated that the Council had
instructed the staff that as soon as the applicant had met all
conditions and made all necessary corrections that there would
be a special meeting held to consider the Hearing Officers Report.
All remaining corrections have been made and conditions met so
he recommended that the Hearing Officers Report be approved and
the license be granted.
MOTION BY COUNCILWOMAN TRUJILLO, SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN HUNTER
that the Hearing Officers Report be approved and the License be
granted to the Brewery. Vote resulted:
UPON ROLL CALL ALL COUNCILMEMBERS PRESENT VOTED AYE.
The Mayor declared said motion duly carried and so ordered.
2. Reconsideration of requirement that aneEnvironmental Impact
Report be prepared for Tract #34148. .
_ Frank G. Tripepi, City Manager: stated that since the January
24th Council Meeting'-all members of the Council have.beeri provided
with a"st'aff_report'from the County Engineer--which merely reiter-
ates the position that he set out in the Negative Declaration it-
self--the recommended modification on San Gabriel is in so it is
not necessary to add it as an additional condition.
Mayor Cichy stated that originally there were approximately
60 additional parking spaces besides those provided for the tenants,
and inquired if those were increased to 80 additional parking s
spaces besides the two each for each unit.
Mr. Lockman stated that was correct.

Mayor Cichy inquired about the trash trucks going in the
private streets of the development and inquired if that problem
had been resolved.
Mr. Lockman stated that the private streets should be engin-
eered in:a development of this size just as a public street would
be to serve equivalent size units.
Mr.;Lockman,.statedwthat he would be acceptable to a condition
that requires these private streets to be designed and constructed
to the satisfaction of the City Engineer orc'.Road Department which-
ever the Council would request.
Councilman Hunter requested that Mr. Lockman's statement
be part of the record.

Estelle Holtz, 8247 Bleeker Street, So. San Gabriel,
questioned the type of developer that would bring in 170
units across the street from Don Bosco High School, and in
talking to everyone regarding this development she,felt that
it would be an asset and she stated that she approved the
development of the project.taking everything into consideration.
MOTION BY MAYOR'..CICHY, SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN HUNTER
that the item to require an Environmental Impact Report be
prepared for Tract #34148 be reconsidered. Vote resulted:
UPON ROLL CALL ALL COUNCILMEMBERS PRESENT VOTED AYE.
The Mayor declared said motion duly carried and so ordered.
MOTION BYfCOUNCILMAN HUNTER, SECONDED BY COUNCILWOMAN
TRUJILLO that the Negative Declaration be approved. Vote
resulted.::
UPON'JROLL CALL ALL COUNCILMEMBERS PRESENT VOTED AYE.
The Mayor'-declared said motion duly carried and so ordered.
Councilwoman Trujillo inquired if the streets would
be maintained by the association.
Mr. Lockman stated that they would remain private streets
and be maintained by the association.
MOTION BY COUNCILWOMAN TRUJILLO, SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN
HUNTER that the Tentative Tract Map be approved. Vote resulted:
UPON ROLL CALL ALL COUNCILMEMBERS PRESENT VOTED AYE.
The Mayor declared said motion duly carried and so ordered.
The Council Meeting was adjourned at 5:24 p. m. to the
next regular meeting of the City Council on February 14, 1978
at 8:00 P. M.
