MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED SPECU
AL
MEETING OF THE ROSEMEAD-CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 19, 1978 AT 7:00 O'CLOCK P.M.
An Adjourned Special Meeting was called to order by
Robert Dickey, Assistant Manager in the Council Chambers
of City Hall, 8838 E. Valley Boulevard, Rosemead, California
at 7:05 p. m.
ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS:
Present: Councilman Taylor
Absent: Councilmembers Trujillo, Imperial, Hunter & Cichy
Councilman Taylor stated that wanted the record to show that
the City Clerk had returned from the Contract Cities Meeting and
the City Attorney is back from the Contract Cities Meeting, and
couldn't say why the other rmembers of the Council are not at this
meeting.
He stated: "One very important thing, the fact that it does
not get on this ballot, there is some talk going around that next
week there is a chance that it will go on this ballot as a reso-
lution form. In that circumstances say perhaps three council-
persons are able to pass a resolution that it can get on the June
ballot I'd like to keep it in mind with the election coming up
it get into politics as far as if we can stall it another six
weeks until after the election perhaps there would be another
council member on the council and everyone keeping in mind that
a resolution can be adopted one week and removed the following
week. So with that in mind if it does go on the June ballot,
I don't know if it will or not. If after the election if*either
Mrs. Trujillo or I do not get on we have another vote on the
Council that can simply say with Mr. Hunter and Mr. Cichy who
have said that they will not have it go to the vote of the people,
and that resolution will be reconsidered, and at that time, three
council members could take it back off of the ballot. I would
like you to keep that in mind just to see what kind of politics
do go on. The fact that there are no other council members here
tonight I would like to adjourn this meeting to 8:00 P. M. tomorrow
night, and see if no one else might show up for that one. Mr.
Attorney would you see if that's legal or not."
Mr. Dilkes stated that the Government Code Section 54955
which I'm gradually getting to know by heart, provides that less
than a majority may adjourn a meeting from time to time for lack
of a quorum. He stated that he might not be here tomorrow night
and that one of the other attorney's from his office would be
present.
Mr. Taylor stated that would be fine and he would go down to
the wire with them.
The Special Meeting was adjourned to another adjourned Special
Meeting at 8:00 P. M. on Friday, January 20, 1978; due to a lack of
a quorum.
Respectfully submitted:
City Clerk of the,City of Rosemead
