3. THE SEVEN HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PEOPLE Sandra Armenta shared that the Rosemead and Garvey School District have implemented the principles outlined in Stephen R. Covey's book
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Teachers, students, and parents have been trained to use the seven habits in their daily lives. The habits teach fairness, integrity, honesty,
and human dignity. They are: Habit 1-Be Proactive Habit 2 -Begin with the End In Mind Habit 3 -Put First Things First Habit 4 -Think Win-Win Habit 5 -Seek First To Understand, Then To
Be Understood Habit 6 -Synergize Habit 7 -Sharpen the Saw Sandra recommended that members of the Connections Forum also be trained. Mandy Wong and other members shared their knowledge
and experience of the program with the Forum. Many agreed that the 7 Habits are consistent with the CONNECTIONS Forum mission to educate, provide resources and guidance so kids know
the importance to stay off of drugs and substance abuse and to redirect them to other healthy recreation activities which will lead them to be future leaders. CONNECTIONS members are
interested and want to learn more about the 7 Habits and to be trained if possible. Mandy said she talk to representatives from Panda about them providing the training. 4. DRUG AWARENESS
