PC - Item 4A - Extension of Conditional Use Permit 11-10E M F s City of Rosemead Memorandum bNAID 1049 To: Honorable Chair and Planning Commissioners From: Michelle Ramirez, Community Development Director vl Prepared by: Lily Trinh, Assistant Planner l� Date: August 20, 2012 RE: Extension of Conditional Use Permit 11 -10 On March 5, 2012, the Planning Commission approved Conditional Use Permit 11 -10 to convert an existing 7,547 square foot restaurant located at 8752 Valley Boulevard, in the C -31D (Medium Commercial with a Design Overlay) zone into a meditation temple. On July 24, 2012, the City received a letter from the applicant (attached with this memo), requesting an extension for Conditional Use Permit 11 -10. Per Condition of Approval Number 3 of Conditional Use Permit 11 -10, "Conditional Use Permit 11 -10 is approved for a period of six (6) months from the Planning Commission approval date. The applicant shall initiate the proposed use, or request an extension within 30- calendar days before the expiration of the six (6) month approval period. Otherwise, Conditional Use Permit 11 -10 shall become null and void." The applicant has indicated that his current tenant is unable to move out of the building due to economic hardship and the length of time. He has also indicated that he does not want to evict his tenant. His current tenant has voluntarily agreed to move out of the building in June of 2013. For these reasons, the applicant is requesting that the Planning Commission extend Conditional Use Permit 11 -10 for a period of one (1) year to allow sufficient time to for his tenants to move out and for him to start the remodeling process.
