PC - Minutes - 02-21-67CITY OF ROSEMEAD PLANNING COMMISSION •• (CORRECTED) MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 21, 1967 The regular meeting of the Planning Commission was called to.order by Commissioner Pike at 7:30 P. M. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, 3018 Charlotte. The meeting was adjourned to Garvey School. The meeting was called to order at Garvey School at 8:00 P. M. by Commissioner Pike. 1. CALL TO ORDER The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Commissioner Pike Invocation was given by Attorney Brown 2. ROLL CALL Present: Commissioners: Holmes; Larson O'Hagan, Pike, Taylor Absent: Commissioners: none ;.`Officio: Hersh, Brown, J: Brown 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES February 7; 1967 Al Hersh had a correction to the minutes pertaining to.ltem 8 Plot Plan # 271. Item 8 should be altered and renumbered as follows: 1. Applicant shall submit a parcel map for processing and approval as set out in the State Subdivision Map Act and City Parcel Map Standards. 2 and 3 remain the same. (MO) Commissioners Holmes, second by Commissioner O'Hagan, moved that the correction be approved as stated; unanimously approved. 4. TIME RESERVED FOR PERSONS 1N THE AUDIENCE WHO `.'!!SHED TO ADDRESS THE COMMISSION: PUBLIC HEARING 5. The Public Hearing (28 persons in attendance) at the Garvey School, opened at 8:10 P. M. by Commissioner Pike, was turned over to Planning Consultant Larry Wise, who addressed the audience, explaining the Land Use Element of the General Plan. Commissioner Pike declared the meeting open to the audience for ?•!ished to speak were sworn in by Al Hersh. Mrs. Donald A. Brown, 8927 E. Marshall, Rosemead, inquired if a 30 unit apartment house in the proposed high density area was considered 30 units or 30 people per apartment house? The answer was that density is mea7ured in dwelling units per acre, or 30 dwelling units /acre. PC 2 -21 -67 00 Mr. Harry Scott, civil engineering firm, at 9143 Valley Blvd. Rosemead, wanted to know if the central area was considered a high density area? Mr. Wise answered yes, and stated that eventually this property will be developed with apartment . housing. Mr. Scott also asked, approximately how long will it take to become a high density area? Mr. Wise said t hat it would probably take 15 to 20 years: Mr. Bernard Knock- Bernnick Realty, 1374 E. Las Tunas, San Gabriel, requested the application of a higher density on west side of Walnut Grove between Wells and Mission. Mr. Wise indica- ted he would look into the feasibility of such change and said there was already a considerable amount of high density residential proposed. That the percentage of such residential proposed was higher than in surrounding cities. Commissioner asked audience if anyone else wanted to address the Commission or ask any further questions to Mr. Wise.- No response. The Public Hearing was closed at 8:25 P. M. Attorney Brown, read Resolution 67 -3: (MO) It was moved by Commissioner Holmes, second by Commissioner O'Hagan, that Resolution 67 -3, adopting the Land Use Element of The General Plan be adopted and recommended to the City Council. (RC) Ayes: Commissioners: Holmes, Larson., O'Hagan, Pike, Taylor Noes: Commissioners: none Absent: Commissioners: none Chairman Pike announced a Work Session of the Planning Commission will be held in the City Council Chambers, 3018 Charlotte Avenue,. on Wednesday March 8, 1967 at 7:30 P. M., to review the proposed Subdivision Ordinance. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: 6. Al Hersh informed the Commission that the Council requested a study be made in regard to the Savannah School area, with regard to clearing parkways so children can walk to school. Commissioner Pike appointed Commissioners O'Hagan, Holmes and City Atto m ey Brown for the study. NEW BUSINESS: 7. None LEGISLATIVE BUSINESS: 8. None COMMUNICATIONS: 9.
