MINUTES OF APRIL 24,1972

An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City
of Rosemead was held in the Council Chambers of City Hall,
8838 East Valley Boulevard and called to order by Mayor
Hunter at 12:30 p.m.
CALL TO ORDER

Present: Councilmen: Andersen, Hunter, Maude, Pike, Taylor
Absent: Councilmen: None
Ex officio: Andersen, Chambers, Gunn, Joehnck, Miller
City Manager Gunn stated the purpose of this meeting was to
meet in joint study session with the Planning Commission and
Citizens Advisory Committee to review the proposed initial
redevelopment project area as recommended by Planning
Consultants Wilsey & Ham.
Attorney Joehnck reviewed the redevelopment process and
schedule, outlining the general purpose of the Community
Redevelopment Agency law.
The recommendation for the initial redevelopment project area
was presented by Larry B. Morrison of Wilsey & Ham, together
with Planning Director Miller and Assistant City Manager
Chambers.
The proposed project area extends east and west approximately
600 feet north and approximately 600 feet south of Garvey
Avenue between the eastern City boundary on the east and Pine
Street on the west; and north and south approximately 500 feet
west and 900 feet east of San Gabriel Boulevard from 600 feet
north of Garvey Avenue on the north to Rush Street on the
south; and from San Gabriel Boulevard corridor described
above east to the eastern City boundary between Klingerman
Street and Rush Street; and all that property south of Rush
Street currently owned by the Southern California Edison Company
and the San Gabriel Valley Water Company; Fern School is also
included north of Klingerman Street; and the properties south
of Garvey Avenue to the eastern extension of Fern Avenue be-
tween Stingle Avenue and the eastern City boundary.
Following discussion amongst those present, it was noted that
the next step would be approval of the initial redevelopment
project area by the Planning Commission.
There being no further business Mayor Hunter adjourned the
meeting at 2:05 p.m.
