CITY OF ROSEMEAD PUBLIC SAFETY CONNECTIONS FORUM REGULAR MEETING ROSEMEAD PUBLIC SAFETY CENTER 8301 GARVEY AVENUE EOC ROOM THURSDAY, MAY 29, 2014 ROSEMEAD PUBLIC SAFETY CONNECTIONS FORUM MEETING MINUTES May 29, 2014 3. SIGNIFICANT LAW ENFORCEMENT INCIDENTS Lt. Somoano provided an updated crime report including the following: • Rosemead Special Assignment deputies and CODE officers are conducting massage parlor and motel compliance checks. • On May 13, there was a shooting on Muscatel Avenue. Investigation is in progress. • There were eight narcotics arrests and two probation operations conducted recently. • Vehicle thefts are higher than this time last year. • Residential burglaries are down by 25% compared to the same period last year. • Shoplifting has increased a bit compared to last year. • Battery-involved theft has decreased. • Monthly Community Area Watch meetings are going strong. At the meetings, we stressed the importance of not leaving personal belongings in vehicles. • Assaults have increased due to incidents of Domestic Violence. Most of these are alcohol and drug- related. • A joint effort between our Rosemead Special Assignment deputies and Rosemead Contract Probation officer on Juvenile Probation Compliance Check. Juveniles are not subject to the same standards as adults (they do not have search conditions) and this makes enforcement efforts more difficult. Per Sgt. Moreno, they are planning to add a juvenile compliance check in the near future. 4.
