AN -0RDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD REGULATING

THE USS OF. THE CITY PARKWAYS AND AMENDING THE
MUNICIPAL C9DE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OE RQSEMEAD DOES' HEREBY ORD$3?~I•AS
FOLLOWS:.
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Rosemead:.
finds that it is"essential that the public sidewalks, parkways-,
and streets of the Gity of Rosemead be kept. free from obstruc-
b;gns not necessary to the function of the City, to order to
facilitate the free and unobstructed ,passage oftraffic and
to protect against accidents by persons using the sidewalks,
parkways and streets of the City of Rosemead.
Section. 2, Section 7200 08 the Municipal Code of the
Gity of Rosemead is amended to add thereto the followings
Sec. 200. For purposes of this Chapter, the term
parkway" means the portion of a street (other
than the roadway,) bet.weep the curb line qr edge
of the roadway and the side sine of the street,.
• other than the sidewalk.
Section 3. Section 7203 of the Municipal Code is
s>ssended to read:
Obstructing Sidewalks
Streets Prohibited. No person having charge,
possession or control of any lot or premise,
either as owner, lessee, tenant, builder, contrac-
tor, house-mover or otherwise, shall construct,
deposit or maintain any structure, building or
any obstacle or condition of any nature whatso-
ever, in or upon such lot or premises in such
manner as to interfere with the free passage of
pedestrians or vehicles along any sidewalk, park-
svay or street, or in such manner as to extend into
or upon any sidewalk, parkway or street abutting
• on or adjacent to such lot or premises.
Section 4. Subsection (a) of Section 72-02 of the P~Iunici--
pal Code is amended to read:
(a). No, person owning, leasing, .occupying or
having possession, charge or control of any
lot or premises, shall allow, keep or maintain
any tree, bush or vegetation growing upon such
lot or premises abutting any street, parkway,
or sidewalk so that the limbs, twigs, leaves or
parts of such trees, bush or vegetation interfere
with or obstruct the free, passage of pedestrians
or vehicles along or upon such sidewalks, parkways
or streeEs.
Section 5. Section 7203.1 is hereby added t.o the
:Municipal Code of the City of Rosemead, to read:

Sec. 720'3.'1. Approval of Administrator. Notwithstand~
3ng anything in Sec. 7203, the City Administrator
or his authorized agent may approve a plan for
parkway use or development that will not be incon-
sistent with this Chapter. '
