A. REVIEW OF TRAFFIC CONDITIONS NEAR JANSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL—APPROVAL OF
STRIPING IMPROVEMENTS
SUMMARY
At the Traffic Commission Meeting of February 12,2015 the Traffic Commission received feedback from the community
and provided input on the traffic conditions around Janson Elementary School. Staff has reviewed the discussions that
took place at the meeting and has continued to review the conditions as described. The plan presented for approval
includes the improvement of signage and striping in the area as well as a temporary trial of parking restrictions along
Bartlett Avenue.
Staff Recommendation
It is recommended that the Traffic Commission recommend that the City Council approve:
1. The installation of parking restrictions on Bartlett Avenue on School Days from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., on
the East and West sides of the street as indicated on the attached plan, on a temporary basis from May 1,
2015 through June 30, 2015
2. The installation of the signage and striping improvements in the vicinity of Janson Elementary School, per
the attached Signage and Striping Plan

A. REVIEW OF TRAFFIC CONDITIONS—ANGELUS AVENUE AND KLINGERMAN STREET
SUMMARY
A request was received for the Traffic Commission to review traffic conditions in the vicinity of Angelus Avenue and
Klingerman Street. Staff has received a number of complaints regarding the speeds of vehicles,the safety of a curved
intersection where Angelus Avenue and Klingerman Street come together, and the proximity of this area to Rice
Elementary School, Staff and a consulting engineer have reviewed the conditions in this area and have recommended
some signage and striping improvements to enhance safety in this area for residents, motorists, and pedestrians,
especially school children.

Staff Recommendation
It is recommended that the Traffic Commission recommend that the City Council approve the signage and striping plan
for the area of Angelus Avenue and Klingerman Street which includes the addition of edge line striping, reduction of
the turn radii, and reduction of the curve speed to 15 MPH.
