CONSULTANT QUALIFICATIONS - FIRM OVERVIEW (=I
•
• California Skateparks is a full-service design/build company specializing in the development of public places for skateboarding
• throughout the United States and around the world. California Skateparks can adapt to any project scope and deliver professional
planning, design, cost estimating services with all the required accreditation, skill and knowledge necessary to provide a state-of-the-art
landscape for skateboarding with due care and diligence. California Skateparks has created a diverse range of public skate parks,
plazas. skate spots, bowls and landscape projects. These places have not only in-creased opportunities for skating, but they have
• contributed to the recreational and social fabric'of the communities in which they are located.
Our roots dig deep within the skateboarding and construction industries. We started out as a landscape contractor with an unrivaled
knack for designing and building the best custom pools and concrete plazas. California Skateparks branched out of California Landscape
• and Design at the forefront of the 1990's public skate park trend, and has since continually raised the bar for the absolute best skate
• facilities throughout the world. Skate park design and construction is essentially a means for exploring the possibilities in
skateboarding. Good design allows those possibilities to emerge by addressing city and site issues as opportunities and not as
• problems. We believe that when environment, economics, art and community are combined in harmony with the needs of society, great
• projects can be achieved with amazing results. California Skateparks is dedicated to creating legacy projects for our cities. the
community and for the future of skateboarding.
• Function design and aesthetics are the signatures of our built projects. We are sensitive to the environmental, political and financial
challenges of a project while being guided by the will of the City of Rosemead community and the drive to create sustainable
landscapes and architecture for skateboarding. We are committed to collaboration with the skateboard community and abide by a design
• process that fosters public input.
Active participation by users is an integral part of the design process and is critical to the success of the skate park. Our public meeting
• process insures the best possible community involvement, in concert with our 'Community Interactive Website' which enables us to keep
communication channels open with the City of Rosemead community with up to the minute design input.
• It is our commitment to this skate plaza project that the required parties/resources remain informed. A project schedule will be designed
• to ensure correct allocation of time for each task during the design and planning phases to meet all deliverables. California Skateparks
• will conduct bi-weekly team meetings with the City and appropriate design team members. Consistent weekly and sometimes daily
communication will be necessary to coordinate any on-going design work. A clear and open line of communication with the City is a
• must for this project and we will take all necessary steps in working together.
• California Skateparks uses the latest technology for skate park design. We have a proven success record using Sketch-Up and Rhino
• for modeling. animation, and AutoCAD for more technical slope analysis, volume calculations, quantity survey. cut and fill balance.
• coordinate geometry. and more.
• Our team provides a full range of professional planning, design, construction document production, cost estimating services refined
• through the development of many successful skate park projects. Our diverse team is committed to producing top quality facilities that
• exceed project objectives in project design and planning, management, quality, innovation, budget control and deadline constraints.

We have worked with Jeff on numerous projects over the past 5 years throughout Minnesota. All projects are in a climate where tern-
( peratures are consistently below zero in the winter with a frost depth of 3'-5'. Though freezing temperatures are not applicable to the
City of Rosemead's skatepark, Jeff can attest that we build with close attention to quality in not so ideal conditions.

Concept
Conceptual Design
• After recently visiting the site, our design team proposed a conceptual skate park design based on the existing site conditions and
• other features of the overall park site. A thorough site investigation and evaluation analysis led to decisions on how best to fit the skate
• park into the proposed project area. Preservation of existing trees was a guiding factor in placement and design layout of the concep-
tual design. Creating natural berming features within the skate park design are a direct reflection of similar features located at the park
• ball fields. These natural features not only soften areas of elevation challenges but can serve as a natural seating or viewing areas
• within the overall park character. Pedestrian paths were intentionally not connected to the skate park so as to keep a defined separa-
tion between possible conflicting users. California Skateparks will use the information gained through the initial studies as well as further
4 development of new and additional creative ideas as this process evolves. to provide a successful and exciting activity space for the
• Rosemead community.

To whom it may concern:
I am writing this letter of reference for California Skateparks because of the phenomenal job they did
building the Tinnell Memorial Sports Park in Lake Havasu City,Arizona. Construction on the park finished
• in late 2013.
• California Skateparks worked with our park board for over 7 years helping us from start to final
• construction. I was very impressed with their hard work and diligence in getting us anything we needed
• to make this project a reality. They were easily accessible by phone for any questions and the owner Joe
Ciaglia even come out to our town multiple times for community meetings, meetings with city council
•• and work sessions with our local kids to help design the park. From start to finish,Joe and his crew were
• there to support us with the project. Much of this help was done prior to any contracts or money
• changing hands which really shows you how dedicated California Skateparks is to helping any
• community build a park.
• The Tinnell Memorial Sports Park is now a reality.Joe and his team worked with us to incorporate
• signature elements to the park to honor Patrick Tinnell-a local hero, BMX rider that was killed in Iraq
• and local skateboarder Colin Sasseen who was killed skateboarding in LHC. We are so grateful for the
• creativity and now have an Army helmet that is a showpiece in the park and is easily recognizable by
anyone seeing pictures of the park We also have Colin's stairs---a 15 stair element that has gotten great
response from pros and amateurs alike. The quality of the build of this park is beyond belief---the park
• has been open for over a year now and we have not had ONE problem with the construction.Joe and
• the California Skateparks team know what they are doing!
Our affiliation with California Skateparks has also brought us partnerships that we NEVER thought we
mor
would ever have. The park is Street League Certified which is huge in the skateboard world. We have
• also been able to work with CaProductions to bring a world class competition to our park.We are
• gearing up for our second event with them scheduled for March. This park has drawn many people to
our town so the economic impact to our community has been huge.We are constantly being visited by
• pros, families that want to use the park and now competitions. The exposure for our town can't be
• measured!
• I am happy to highly recommend California Skateparks to anyone or any town that is thinking of using
• their services. I would be happy to talk to anyone that needs additional information.

Dear Mr. Ciaglia:
0 I would like to personally thank you for your demonstrated construction expertise and project
delivery of the Pier 62 Skatepark within the Hudson River Park for the Hudson River Park Trust
("Trust"). Mr. Bill Minadeo and his team worked well with our construction manager Skanska
USA, the various testing labs, inspectors, etc. as well as the General Contractor, Prima Paving
Corp., in particular. The California Skateparks crew fostered teamwork in a challenging
environment, and delivered a skatepark which exceeded our expectations.
Your company's experience in constructing quality skate parks was brought to the surface through
the solutions you provided which ultimately improved the overall appeal of the skatepark. We
also appreciate the attention to detail practiced by your workers, whose final product will provide
for generations of skaters in New York City.
Once again, please accept our thanks to your company and yourself for constructing the Hudson
