MANIS, CITY MANAGER c,c,r\ DATE: JULY 26, 2016 SUBJECT: AMENDMENT TO RESOLUTION NO. 2016-18 ESTABLISHING ANNUAL SALARY RANGES AND BENEFITS FOR CLASSIFICATIONS IN THE MIDDLE-MANAGEMENT, PROFESSIONAL AND CONFIDENTIAL SERVICE UNIT OF THE CITY SUMMARY The City Council will consider approval and adoption of Resolution 2016-38 amending Resolution No. 2016-18 to insert the City Clerk classification into the Middle- Management, Professional, and Confidential Service Unit of the City. Staff Recommendation for City Council Action Staff recommends that the City Council adopt Resolution 2016-38 amending Resolution No. 2016-18 inserting the City Clerk classification into the Middle Management, Professional, and Confidential Service. BACKGROUND On June 28, 2016, the City Council approved and adopted Resolution No. 2016-18 establishing annual salary ranges and benefits for classifications in the Middle- Management, Professional, and Confidential Service Unit designation. Due to the assessment of the essential job functions and staffing needs of the City Clerk Department, it is necessary that Resolution No. 2016-38 be adopted amending Resolution 2016-18 to incorporate the City Clerk classification into the Middle-Management, Professional, and Confidential Service Unit. PUBLIC NOTICE PROCESS This item has been noticed through the regular agenda notification process. FISCAL IMPACT Funds for the annual salary and benefits for the City Clerk classification are included in the City's 2016-2017 Fiscal Year Budget. ITEM NO. 4.D APPROVED FOR CITY COUNCIL AGENDA: City Council Meeting July 26,2016 Page 2 of 2 Submitted by: Su Tan Human Resources Manager Attachment: Resolution 2016-38 RESOLUTION NO. 2016-38 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2016-18 ESTABLISHING ANNUAL SALARY RANGES AND BENEFITS FOR CLASSIFICATIONS IN THE MIDDLE-MANAGEMENT, PROFESSIONAL AND CONFIDENTIAL SERVICE UNIT OF THE CITY WHEREAS, on June 28, 2016, the City Council approved Resolution No. 2016-18 establishing annual salary ranges and benefits for classifications in the Middle Management, Professional, and Confidential Service unit designation; WHEREAS, the City Clerk classification is critical to the efficient and effective operations of the City; WHEREAS, employees in this classification are exempt under the provisions of the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act; and WHERAS, the approval of an amendment to Resolution No. 2016-38 inserting the City Clerk classification into the Middle-Management, Professional and Confidential Service Unit designation is desired; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Rosemead, California, as follows: Section 1. That the City of Rosemead City Council does hereby approve Resolution No. 2016-38, amending Resolution No. 2016-18 establishing annual salary ranges and benefits for classifications in the Middle-Management, Professional and Confidential Service Unit designation by inserting the classification of City Clerk in Section 1. Applicability and amending the salary range as follows: City Clerk Salary Range: $7,222 - $8,743 Section 2. That the City Clerk of the City of Rosemead shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution which shall become effective upon its approval by the City Council.
