Ordinance No. 094 - Interim Zoning OrdinanceORDINANCE NO. 94
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD AMENDING
THE PROVISIONS OF THE TEMPORARY INTERIM ZONING
ORDINANCE AND AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD DOES HEREBY ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Chapter 1 of Article IX of the Rosemead
Municipal Code, Section 9100 thereof, is hereby amended by
adding a new subsection (a-8) thereto, to read:
(a-8). Notwithstanding the foregoing
Subsection (a) of this Section 9100, Article
the Zoning Ordinance of the County of Los Ang
adopted by reference as the temporary-interim
of the City of Rosemead, is hereby amended by
726, to read as follows:
provisions of
I of Chapter 7 of
files, hereinabove
zoning ordinance
amending section
SECTION 726. ADDITIONAL DWELLING UNITS IN SINGLE-
FA!iLY ZONES.
Notwithstanding any other provisions of this ordinance,
property in Zones R-i, R-A, or A-l, having an area of ten
thousand (10,000) square feet or more and with adequate
• provisions for ingress and egress; may be used for the
erection, construction, occupancy, use, alteration or
enlargement of one additional single-family residence,
together with accessory buildings permitted in such zone,
for each required area of five thousand (5,000) square
feet or more provided a plot plan has first been approved
by the Planning Commission.
Section 2. This ordinance is an ordinance for the
immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety,
and pursuant to the provisions of Subsection (b) of Section
36937 of the Government Code of the State of California, shall
take effect immediately.
The facts constituting such urgency are as follows:
• In many instances uncontrolled development of deep lot resident-
ial areas in this city has taken place in such manner as to
prevent the development of future street patterns in accordance
with a proposed master plan which is under study by the
Planning Commission and City Council. It is still possible
to regulate effectively the splitting of large lots and the
building of additional residences in order to maintain a single-
family residential atmosphere in certain, areas of the City of
Rosemead. Unless adequate regulations are adopted immediately,
however, certain locations within the City would be subjected
to spot development which would make it impossible thereafter
to put into effect such master plan for the most beneficial
and equitable use of property within the city, to the perman-
ent damage of the properties involved and to the detriment of
the public peace, health and safety.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 24th day of April, 1962.
