ORDINANCE NO. 69
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD
CHANGING THE ZONING CLASSIFICATION OF
CERTAIN PROPERTY AND AMENDING THE ROSEMEAD
MUNICIPAL CODE AND THE TEMPORARY ZONING
MAP
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD HEREBY ORDAINS AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The zoning classification of the
following--d-escrFFed property:
Lot 1 of Tract No. 3599, as per map recorded
in Book 41, page 45 of Maps, Records of
Los Angeles County, California, except the
southerly 257.8 feet thereof, and the westerly
73.11 feet of the northerly 150 feet of Lot 2
of Tract No.. 3599

is hereby changed to and said property is hereby classified
as M-1.
Section 2. The temporary interim zoning map of
the City of Rosemead is hereby amended by reclassifying
the above described property thereon as Zone M-I.
Section 3. Section 9101 of the Rosemead Municipal
Code is amended to read:
"9101. Tem orar Zonin Ma Adoption of. Due
to Te conditions re erred to in the preceding
section, the City Council further hereby adopts
as a temporary interim zoning map for the City,
the zoning map of the County of Los Angeles
which has until the incorporation of this City,
governed the zoning of this area. The zoning
shown on this Map of all property formerly in the
County and now within this City, shall be, and
is hereby declared to be the zoning of such
property now that it is within the City, and governed
according to classification by the.zoning ordinance
of the County of Los Angeles as referred to in the
preceding section, subject to such amendments to
such map as may be made from time to time by
ordinance adopted by the City Council."
Section 4. Prior to the incorporation of the City of
Rosemead the above described property was processed for rezoning
to M-1 by the Regional Planning Commission and the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles and action was duly
taken in such proceedings for the rezoning of said property
as M-1. Due to the incorporation of the City of Rosemead said
rezoning proceeding was terminated after the approval of such
zone change but prior to the formal adoption of the ordinance.
The subject property has long been used for M-1 purposes but
the building has recently been destroyed by fire, a building
permit cannot be obtained to reconstruct the building and
continue the existing use without immediate reclassification
of the property as M-1. In the absence of immediate redassifi-
cation the owner of the property is being deprived of a
substantial property right, commerce and business is disrupted
and the employees are being deprived of employment and a liveli-
hood. The public peace, health and welfare will be promoted by
•
the immediate restoration of such building, payroll and commerce.
The City Council and the Planning Commission are currently con-
sidering the permanent rezoning of said land. This ordinance is
a temporary interim zoning ordinance, is necessary for the public
peace, health and welfare and shall.therefore take effect
immediately.
