2. MINUTES—May 26,2016
There was a motion by Brian Lewin and a second by Wenli Jen to approve the Public Safety

3. SIGNIFICANT LAW ENFORCEMENT INCIDENTS
Lt. Somoano provided an update on crime activity, including the following:
o A man died after being hospitalized for weeks after a car to car shooting on San Gabriel Blvd
and the 60 freeway, possibly gang related. This was the City's first homicide of the year.
o A Lomas gang member was shot and killed at a motel in the South San Gabriel area of the
County. The incident appears gang related and involved a gang from out of the area.
o A Lomas gang member was in a car that was broadsided. The passenger suffered head
injuries and later died after being taken off life support. The Accident is under investigation
by the California Highway Patrol.
o Crime trends — Residential burglaries and theft of vehicles still a problem. A decrease in
Domestic Violence by 13% is noted. Also 54 less stolen cars this year compared to last
year. A 1% increase in Part 1 Crime compared with last year.
o The biggest challenge law enforcement faces are the new laws. The law does not allow
offender(s)to be held accountable for their crimes (no Jail time).
