AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD RE-
STRICTING DANCING IN PUBLIC PLACES WHERE
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE DISPENSED TO DINE
AND DANCE RESTAURANTS AND AMENDING THE
MUNICIPAL CODE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. Article Vi, Chapter 2, of the Rosemead
Municipal Code is amended by adding Sections 6203, 6204, 6205
and 6206 to read as follows:
"Section 6203. Restriction of Certain Dancing to
Dine an Dance Restaurants.
No person shall open, conduct or operate a public
dance or participate in or allow public dancing in
any place in the City of Rosemead where alcoholic
beverages are sold, served, given or furnished,
except as herein provided or other than in or at a
dine and dance restaurant as herein defined, and
unless all the following conditions and requirements
are complied with and exist:
(A) Music for dancing is furnished by not less
than two live musicians;
(B) There is a dining area furnished andequipped
to accommodate at least sixty (60) persons
seated at dining tables at one time;
(C) There is a separate dance floor having a mini-
mum unobstructed area of two hundred square feet;
(D) The building in which such dance or dances will
be held is on property zoned for commercial or
industrial use under the provisions of the Rose-
mead Municipal Code;
• (E) A valid license has been issued in accordance
with provisions of the Rosemead Municipal Code
authorizing such dancing;
(F) Off street parking shall be provided with a
number of parking spaces equal to at least one-
fourth of the number of persons who may be seat-
ed at dining tables at one time.
"Section 6204. Dine and Dance Restaurant Defined.
'Dine and Dance Restuarant' shall mean a dance place
or establishment where the general public is admitted
and bona fide, complete and genuine full-course meals
are served at tables as a business, and individual
drinks of alcoholic beverages are served and public
dancing is permitted.
"Section 6205. Charitable Organization Exemption.
The provisions of Sections 6203 and 6204 shall not
apply to any charitable, religious, fraternal or
similar non-profit organization.
"Section 6206. Repeal.
Any provisions of the Rosemead Municipal Code in con-
flict with Sections 6203, 6204 or 6205 are hereby re-
pealed.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 22nd day of
November, 1960.
