AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ROSEMMEAD
REGULATING AUTOMOBILE SERVICE STATIONS
IN CERTAIN AREAS AND SECOND HAND STORES
AND DOG KENNELS WITHIN THE CITY OF
ROSEMEAD AND EXTENDING ORDINANCE i40. 169
FOR ONE YEAR.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Ordinance No. 169 of the City of Rosemead
entitled "ONCE OF THE CITY OF ROSEMEAD REGULATING AUTO-
MOBILE SERVICE STATIONS IN CERTAIN AREAS AND SECOND HAND STORES
AND DOG KENNELS" is hereby readopted and extended in full force
and effect for a term of one year expiring February 8, 1967. In
order to provide for such extension, said Ordinance is hereby
amended to read:
"Section .1. Notwithstanding any other-provision
of the osemead Municipal Code or the ordinances of
the City of Rosemead, no automobile service station
shall be permitted in any zone in the City of Rosemead
on property located on Mission Drive, Rosemead Boule-
vard or Valley Boulevard for a period of one (1) year
expiring February 8, 1967. This ordinance shall not
• .apply to the improvement or expansion of an existing
service station in such area, or to the construction
of service stations at locations approved by zone
variance prior to adoption of this ordinance.
"Section 2. Notwithstanding any other provision
of the o-r- nances of the City of Rosemead or of the.
Rosemead Municipal Code, no retail or wholesale business
dealing primarily in used clothing or other used
merchandise except bona fide antique stores, and no
dog kennels, shall.be permitted in any zone in the
City of Rosemead for a period of one (1) year expiring
February u, 1967."
. Section 2.. The Planning Commission of the City of
Rosemead is now conducting studies with reference to the location,
control and regulation of service stations, second hand businesses
• and dog kennels in the City of Rosemead. Pending the completion
of such studies and in order to prevent during such period the
development of properties in a manner incompatible with such zoning
classifications and regulations as may be proposed after such
studies and with surrounding land uses, it is necessary and desir-
able that no further such businesses be established. This ordinance
is therefore declared to be an interim zoning ordinance necessary
for the protection of the health, safety and general welfare of the
City of Rosemead and shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 8th day of
February, 1966.
