ROSEMEAD TRAFFIC COMMISSION MEETING
September 7,2017
The meeting of the Rosemead Traffic Commission was called to order by Vice Chair Masuda at 7:02 p.m. in the
Council Chamber,8838 E.Valley Boulevard, Rosemead. California.

STAFF PRESENT: Director of Public Works Michelle Ramirez, City Engineer Rafael Fajardo and Administrative
Assistant Silvia Llamas
1. PUBLIC COMMENTS FROM THE AUDIENCE
Brian Lewin,9501 E. Ralph Street,welcomed the returning and new Traffic Commissioners. Mr. Lewin requested
the installation of a red curb in front of the fire hydrant that is located across the street from his house and, if
possible,to have red curbs installed in front of all fire hydrants throughout the City.
2. CONSENT CALENDAR
Commissioner Berry motioned,seconded by Commissioner Quintanilla to approve Item A(Installation of Red Curb
—8336 Mission Drive) and Item B(Installation of Red Curb—Singing Wood Lane)from the Consent Calendar as
presented. Votes resulted in:
Yes: Berry,Quintanilla, Masuda and Ornelas
No: None
Abstain: None
Absent:Sevilla
3. NEW BUSINESS
A. TRAFFIC ASSESSMENT AT FERN AVENUE AND JACKSON AVENUE(INTERSECTION NEAR
BITELY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL)
Staff provided the Traffic Commissioners with a brief description on the item, along with recommending that the
Traffic Commissioner propose to the City Council the painting of advance'Stop"lines 4-feet prior to the crosswalks
in all four legs of the intersection of Fern Avenue and Jackson Avenue, and painting 20-feet of red curb on all
corners at the same intersection. If red curb is already existing,it should be repainted.
Commissioner Berry motioned, second by Commissioner Quintanilla to approve staffs recommendation on
painting advance'Stop' lines 4-feet prior to the crosswalks in all four legs of the intersection of Fern Avenue and
Jackson Avenue, and painting 20-feet of red curb on all corners at the same intersection. If red curb is already
existing., it should be repainted. Votes resulted in:

4. STAFF REPORT
Staff provided the Traffic Commissioners with an update on current and upcoming City events and projects
throughout the City.
5. COMMISSIONER REPORTS
Commissioner Berry asked if staff can look into having mountable curbs installed on Walnut Grove Avenue near
the bridge underpass going north and south to allow emergency vehicles to drive over them in case of emergency.
Commissioner Quintanilla asked if staff can look into replacing the old and missing signs on Ivor Avenue on the
west curb line across Muscatel Intermediate School.
Vice Chair Ornelas asked if staff can install a"No Stopping or No Parking'sign going over the wash when traveling
west bound on Marshall Street between Muscatel Avenue and Bartlett Avenue.
6. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m. The next Traffic Commission meeting is scheduled for October 5, 2017, at
7:00 p.m., in the City Council Chamber at City Hall, located at 8838 East Valley Boulevard.
